In statements to the Turkish TV channel NTV, today, Tuesday, Akar indicated that the agreements between Ankara, Baku and Moscow regarding the establishment of a joint Russian-Turkish center in charge of monitoring the truce in Karabakh are underway, and that “nothing remains but resolving a number of issues related to construction work and housing the members of the mission.”
The Turkish minister said, “Our men will work with the Russians. As for the date of their stay there, we will discuss this issue again with the Russian side.”Akar confirmed that the work would be conducted under the joint supervision of “two Turkish and Russian generals,” adding that between 30 and 60 Turkish soldiers would participate directly in monitoring the truce in Karabakh along with their Russian counterparts.
On November 11, video talks with the Russian and Turkish defense ministers resulted in the signing of a memorandum between the two parties on establishing a joint truce monitoring center in Karabakh.This came a day after the entry into force of the agreement signed by the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan on a ceasefire in the region, following 44 days of confrontations between Azerbaijani and Armenian forces in the region.
